Dr. Simmons’s entrepreneurship expertise includes entrepreneurship education, entrepreneurial finance, venture creation, innovation, and the institutional conditions that shape entrepreneurial activity. Her scholarship and teaching address organizational failure and reentry, social costs of failure, gender and entrepreneurship, entrepreneurial ecosystems, and business survival. At Jackson State University, she has led the development of the Financial Literacy, Entrepreneurship, and Innovation Pathway and the Entrepreneurship Minor for Non-Business Majors.
